How to succeed in your career with the right attitude
Overview
How can you succeed in your career with the right attitude? Attitude is the way to altitude is a popular quote. I believe a reminder is not a bad idea. We would be looking at how attitude affects relationships, the definition of success, attitude, positive, and negative attitudes. In addition, we will look at how attitude affects relationships and how the right mindset or approach (not qualification) will take us to altitude, as in, greater heights.
Statistics
According to a survey conducted by TeamStage(an app created by managers for managers)
TeamStage
“86% of prospective workers would not seek employment in a company of bad image. To make matters worse, 65 % would probably leave their company if it’s in the news or social media because of negative company culture. [Furthermore] Poor management skills (64%), bad attitudes (58%), and incompetence (56%) are the three behaviors that all employees say have the biggest negative influence on the workplace.”
How does attitude affect relationships?
Human beings are social creatures and anything that triggers negativity puts them off. So, one needs to have the right demeanor when on the job or in that business. Employers say they would rather hire attitude than aptitude because a worker with the right attitude will be open to training and correction.

What is Attitude?
This is a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person’s behavior.
What is a Positive Attitude?
A positive attitude is a state of mind that sees the good and the accomplishments in your life rather than the negative and the failures. It recognizes opportunities and has the habit of imagining, thinking, seeing, and speaking of anything, idea, or event that has a good or great outcome.
What is a Negative attitude?
A negative attitude is a feeling, manner, or disposition that is not cooperative, optimistic, or constructive.
What is Success?
Success is accomplishing an aim or purpose and to succeed in our careers. So, let’s look at how to use the right attitude on the job or in business.

How to use the right attitude to succeed in your job or in business
1. Work on your attitude as an individual: Everyone should work on developing the right attitude in their personal lives, as this would show in other aspects of life, like your job or business. In a perfect world, this would save us all from drama and negativity, but we owe it to ourselves to do the right thing as people will model a positive attitude. Read books, get a coach, or seek professional help.
2. Tenacity: This means never giving up in the face of difficulties, opposition, or discouragement. The most difficult projects or tasks birth great results that lead to promotion on the job or growth of business, sales, and clientele.
3. Faith is a great attitude: Faith means believing in yourself or your ability in this context. According to the Forbes article, Attitudes that lead to success in the modern world:
“ Faith is the missing link, the unseen difference between the successful [worker] entrepreneur and the mediocre. Faith is vital if you must build a successful business. Every great [career] business venture is preceded by an undying faith on the part of the [worker] entrepreneur. Without faith, it is impossible to go beyond mediocrity.”
4. Monitor and be accountable for your attitude: Pay attention to how your attitude affects relationships at home, your family, your work, or your business. Our attitude good or bad will impact our performance in our personal lives, on the job, or in business.
Conclusion
According to HuffPost in their article, The importance of Attitude for Business Success:
“We all have a choice. We can choose an inner dialogue of self-encouragement and self-motivation, or we can choose one of self-defeat and self-pity. It’s a power we all have, being in business is very similar to going on a roller coaster ride there will be plenty of ups and downs. It’s your attitude, not your aptitude that determines your altitude.”

Another beautiful piece as always. Our attitude in most cases, if not every, determine our altitude in relationships, careers, et’al. Indeed, these kind of articles encourage us that we are on the right track even when we don’t get the immediate benefits of doing right and maintaining the right attitude. It also reminds us of the way to go when things are off course. Keep it coming @Femaré Okemena. Good job!
@Tpaulz, appreciate your kind words, thank you. You made a great point that sometimes, we do not get the immediate benefits of a great attitude.
I was waiting for something recently and if I was not patient, I wouldn’t have reaped the benefits that are serving me to date.
Thanks for this great article on attitude. The concept of inner-dialogue is such a powerful one that we all need to pay great attention to it in order for it to work to our advantage. Everyone engages in such dialogue whether or not they are aware of it. And as you said when you defined “attitude.” It’s a way of thinking that produces certain type of behaviour and the more we become more conscious of our most frequent thoughts about ourselves and the world around us, the more we are able to control our attitude. Thanks again for this great reminder.
